The Charleston International Airport (CHS) is the closest airport to Kiawah (about 45 minutes away by car). Rideshare services are available at CHS. Note that Ubers are able to get on the island, but Lyft will charge a fee. Uber and Lyft services are not available once on Kiawah Island and are difficult to book for the return trip to the airport. We suggest booking a car service ahead of time. See below for details.

Having a rental car may be beneficial depending on where you stay, especially if you are not staying at a Kiawah Island Golf Resort property. There are plenty of rental options available at the airport including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty. See here to book a rental car.

If not renting a car, the best way to travel to and from CHS and Kiawah Island will be to book a car service in advance of your stay. If staying at The Sanctuary, please call the resort concierge to arrange transportation at (843) 768-6251. Otherwise, please consider one of the following third-party services: SC Express, Island Transportation Services, or Charleston Black Cab Company

Once on the island, guests have access to complimentary shuttles if staying at a Kiawah Island Golf Resort rental property or The Sanctuary. The shuttles can take you to any resort restaurant or amenity across the island. Call extension 82900 and the shuttle will pick you up within 30 minutes of your call (noting pick up can take longer during busy weekend times). The shuttle only runs during specified hours.
